Galatasaray Nef has signed İsmet Akpınar. The 191 cm point guard signed a 2-year contract. İsmet Akpınar is a Turkish player born in Hamburg, Germany on May 22, 1995. He started his basketball career in Hamburg's BC Hamburg youth teams. At 16, he made his professional debut in the German ProB League with SC Rist Wedel. He then signed a 4-year contract with Alba Berlin in 2013/14. He played in the EuroLeague and EuroCup with his team for 4 seasons. In 2017/18, he signed a 2-year contract with Raitopharm Ulm. He also played for the German national team in the U16, U18, U20, and A categories. He played in the 2020 World Cup in China with the German national team. After his contract ended, he signed with Beşiktaş Sompo Japan in 2019. He played 20 games in the Basketbol Süper Ligi with 10.9 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game. He also played 16 BCL games with Beşiktaş and 9 Eurocup games with Bahçeşehir Koleji. He transferred to Fenerbahçe Beko in 2021/22 and played 39 games in the Basketbol Süper Ligi and 19 games in the EuroLeague.
